Lake Hartwell is a beautiful reservoir bordering Georgia and South Carolina that is created by Hartwell Dam. It is located less than two hours from both Atlanta and Charlotte.

Interstate 85 bisects the lake providing easy access, and there are several towns near the lake with various accommodations and amenities.

With more than 56,000 acres of water and a shoreline of 962 miles, Lake Hartwell is one of the southeast's largest and most popular outdoor recreation lakes; and is named after the American Revolutionary War figure Nancy Hart.

The lake is renowned for its varied fishing habitat. Bream, catfish, smallmouth bass, walleye, and largemouth bass are naturally occurring species in the lake, but the most popular fishing is for striped bass.
